Pollie Gautsch and her family lead active lives in the California sun. Her husband works as a surfboard shaper (and an energy engineer), and her two young children have already learned to value the outdoors. In September the Gautsch family will be moving into a brand new home, but they're not just excited about its close proximity to the ocean and lagoon trails. They're looking forward to living with a renewed sense of purpose, for their new home will be the first GreenPoint Rated home in Solana Beach, CA.

After Cardiff couple Pollie Gautsch and Darryl Matsui bought a 1.3-acre lot in Solana Beach to build their dream “green” home, they began researching environmentally friendly, energy-efficient building resources and service providers in San Diego. Frustrated by the lack of a single, central repository of such information, they decided to create a Web site, sandiegogreenhomes.com. “We hope to facilitate the networking process by connecting people with architects, contractors and material providers in their area, and assist them with building more responsibly,” says Gautsch.
